Generally speaking, a monarch society is ruled by a king or queen. For ages this king or queen had great powers. Later on the concept of a Constitutional Monarchy came into being. Each of these granted different powers to the monarch.

A monarch is a single person in whom executive authority is vested. The position is often hereditary but has been elective (the Holy Roman Emperors and Kings of Poland were elected. So are American Presidents who are basically elected monarchs). Monarch butterflies are yellow and black migratory butterflies of North America.
