Yes, they sided with the Axis powers in 1945. but before that they were kinda worse than Nazis. They had dozens of death camps where they tortured and murdered about a million people, most of them Serbs. They even had a Croatian Fuhrer named Ante Pavelić who is now, if I'm not mistaken, a national hero. Nice work, Croatia!

Whoever wrote the answer is a cretin. Surely, the state of Croatia did ally with Axis in WWII, but also much more Croats went with a southern-Slavic resistance army called Partizani (Partisans if you may) which would win eventually and form Yugoslavia. And Ante Pavelić is not a national hero, rather he is considered a shame to a Croatian country. However, Partisans, Yugoslavia and Tito in Croatia are controversial.
