Democracy is when all the members have equal rights in a society. In today's world, democracy is embodied in the right to vote. Primitive democracy was found even in villages and communities by discussions through village council, village elders, cooperative forms of government, etc.

This took a long time until they finally decided to use the article of confederations. In short the article of confederations is America's first constitution. The article of confederations gave the states more power then the congress.They did this because they didn't want one ruler like they previously had with King George the 3rd. The article confederations didn't work because the states were all messed up and the congress barley had any power. So in 1787 they all met up again in Philadelphia to create our current government today. They combined 2 plans the Virginia plan which the bigger states liked better and the New Jersey plan which smaller states liked better. To make our current constitution. Now our government is only a tiny bit different. For example over 10,000 new amendments have been suggested but only 28 have been taken and that is really the only different between the 1700 government and our current government.
