Some problems seen with individualism is that it is completely focused on the individual and not the community and can lead to selfishness and self centered behavior.

The question when it comes to politics and economics is individualism vs collectivism. People who subscribe to individualism believe if you made money you did it entirely yourself and have no reason to share that wealth with others in society and that individuals (or corporations) are responsible for creating things like roads, train tracks, etc and the maintenance invovled with them. That is the opposite of collectivism which believes if you made money that was because of a society has helped and that redistributing some of that wealth is important so people can afford to keep purchasing products and that roads, railroads etc. are used and supported by all people whether they are workers, business owners or the business themselves and must pay through taxation in order to keep up building new roads and maintaining existing which then in turns helps society as a whole.
