It (Industrial Revolution) encouraged imperialism by: It (Industrial Revolution) created a need for raw materials and markets.
Imperialism was an expression of NATIONAL PRIDE of the various states that expanded in such a way. It was generally seen as a search for RAW MATERIALS, FREE LABOR to work or retrieve these materials, and the creation of new MARKETS to sell goods manufactured in the metropole to these new colonies.
America needed new markets for its goods, not a source of raw material for industries
markets for industries and sites for raw material.
Raw materials and the lands that contained them became prime targets for expanding countries. New lands and raw materials could be exploited without danger of the exploitation effects reaching the 'mother countries.' Raw materials also at one time were people, hence the slave trade.
imperialism
My realization is that as industrialization grew, so did the need for more raw materials and the markets in which to sell these new peoducts in. This spurred imperialism and the need to gain more materials, power, and control over nations
America gained Puerto Rico Guam and the phillipine islands.
new Imperialism was because of prestige and wanting to maintain the balance of power.Big powers like Britain wanted to maintain their great power status and hence they acquired colonies in Africa for raw materials ,cheap labour and markets to boost their economy.
New imperialism differed from old imperialism in several key ways. Unlike old imperialism, new imperialism was driven by industrialization and the desire for raw materials and markets. It also involved the colonization of territories in Africa and Asia, rather than just trading posts. Additionally, new imperialism was characterized by a more aggressive and militaristic approach by European powers, leading to increased competition and conflict among them.
The THREE forces that drove Imperialism: 1- The Industrial Revolution in particular provided European countries with a reason to add lands to their control 2- New markets and raw materials to improve their economies 3- World War II
