King John was accused of capturing his innocent nephew and had him thrown in jail. One night, John got so drunk that he actually threw his nephew over the castle walls and into the river. Besides that, King John wanted to control the Catholic Church of England. The Pope who was from Rome, refused. This made John really mad. To show his anger, he decided to order his soldiers to rob and beat up the poor nuns and priests serving in that Church. Some priests were even hung from trees in full public view.
