What was the lockwood report?

A document published on Feb 10th, 1965, which recommended that Northern Ireland was in requirement of a new University. Up to this point, Queen's University was the only institution capable of handing degrees to students. The report also went on to suggest Coleraine as the site. The report is believed to have been manipulated by the unionists, who favoured Coleraine over the catholic Derry (the 2nd largest city in N.I). However, the report was made by a third party, Sir John Lockwood. Now, in my opinion, I believe it might have been influenced, but only by the fact that Derry was prone to violence.
