for one, his optimism is what had given hope to the nation and led america through the great depression and World War II. when fdr was struck with a disease known as polio, he never abandoned the hope that he would someday walk again. another trait is his determination. despite his critics labeling him as a "power hungry dictator" he managed to continue on creating poilicies for the welfare of the american people. to strive for the better of the nation. he also possessed the trait to understand and connect with others.
