It is likely that once the untruth was discovered-which it most likely would be, considering the varying sources of information people now have-the lobbyist would be discredited. Because the group had such an untrustworthy spokesperson, the group could be considered untrustworthy as a whole.
Assuming it was a peaceful group, it would be a violation of the first amendment, which gives people the right "peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
Business interest groups have had a huge impact on our government. The business groups have donated billions of dollars to candidates that would sponsor laws that favor that company. In turn it has made government a game of investors and personal/ business interest.
