Following the end of Yell's term in office, Thomas Stevenson Drew (born August 25, 1802 in Wilson County, Tennessee; died January 1, 1879 in Lapin, Texas) became the third Governor of Arkansas, serving between November 5, 1844 and January 10, 1849.
