There is no simple answer to that question but I'll make it as simple as I possibly can. The reason why everybody can't get along is the fact that most people are not leaders and it is easier for the simple people to follow someone with charisma and a certain likableness and adopt that person's ideas as their own, and so spawned influence. Now after years of being set in a certain way of life, it is incredibly hard to break that pattern, especially when people get into the "that's the way we've always done it" mentality, they learn to hate people because it is how they were raised. They are pretty close in their ideology which is the opposite of libertarian. Both stand for total state control over all aspects of life. Yes, there are minor differences, but there is a lot more in common than is different. And they compete for the same audience. Just like later on the Soviet and Chinese communists couldn't get along.
