Carl Jung categorized all people into two categories, extroverts and introverts. Extroverts are generally much more social and outgoing, where introverts generally keep much more to themselves and are calm and private.

Preferred Activities. Introverts enjoy activities they can do alone or with just a few others. So, it's not surprising that so many introverted, gifted children love to read. They also tend to prefer activities that allow for creative expression, like creative writing, music, and art

edit - they are interested in the same things as everyone else. Introverts are *better* at exploring their own inner thoughts/feeling/processes than external relationships. They are energized by alone time, unlike extraverts, who are better at external relationships and are energized by being with and learning new things about other people.

Jung believed that no one is 100% extrovert or 100% introvert, but most minds tend to lean more to one side. If both characteristics are equally present, we can speak of someone who has an ambivert personality.

Also, Jung (1923) described extroverts as preferring to engage with the outside world of objects, sensory perception, and action. Introverts he described as being more focused on the internal world of reflection, are thoughtful and insightful
