I suppose that being histrionic could make it more likely, because you tend to make everything more dramatic and see friendship as romantic... always taking things a little bit too far. But it isn't something that always happens, and definitely depends on the person.

The outlook isn't good because apparently very few people get past this. Sometimes meds are helpful, but delusional people don't want to take meds.
