Matter of opinion. Since fewer compliments are given out these days, one would tend to think that insults are remembered lots longer.
You can appreciate other people by expressing gratitude for their actions or qualities, acknowledging their efforts, offering compliments, and actively listening to their thoughts and feelings. Additionally, showing kindness, support, and respect towards them can also be ways to demonstrate appreciation.
I suppose we remember people because of who they were and what they did. Heroes and sports stars are remembered in their actions and deeds. Others remember people because of their character and personality, be it positive or negative. I think when people leave us, we hold onto little memories and that is how we best remember people.
