by the beginning of your teens years, you are pretty much the person you are going to be the rest of your life, barring any unforeseen extremely traumatic event. That being said, self esteem can change based on your surrounding as well. if you are in a solid, nurturing relationship, your self esteem will remain relatively high. if you are in an abusive, hurtful relationship, you will find yourself going downhill rather quickly.

Generally if you stick to who you are from the time you are a teen (doing natural maturing along the way of course) then you will most likely stay that way most of your life. Make logical decisions and avoid ridiculously risky behavior and you will maintain it.
