How can you know if someone is a good person?

You can tell if someone is a good person if he/she talks to you nicely and you see them doing nice things to other people,also if you can tell that she gets in people's problems and helps them you can tell that she/he has a really nice soul.

Basically you can't tell from the start in every case. Many "not nice people" have developed a set of skills so that they seem to be nice, This includes con men, car salesmen, door to door evangelists, nosy neighbours, child abusers and so on. Humans unfortunately can have ulterior motives, This leaves us with the need for a strategy to siftt our nice folks from not nice folks:

• Be prepared to spend some time to determine their true nature,
  
• Understand your prejudices, Good people may come from any background, ethnicity, social class, race, religion, appearance be whole or handicapped.
• A rirst step is go into interactions with folks with a positive outlook ( assume that they are good until they prove other wise)_
  
• Observe how they interact with you, your friends, your dog, waiters, the homeless, different ethnic people, the type of jokes they tell, what they are bitter about, whether they litter, laugh at the disables etc. Nice people are generally consistent on these actions
  
• What do they do that makes you uncomfortable. Note that if you aren't all that nice, nice people can make you uncomfortable by interacting with people you don't feel are "worth it"
• See if they try to get you to loan them money, buy them gifts or even be intimate with them to early in your path to friendship = this is a potential warning sign.
• If they draw attention to their good deeds and actions be cautious, Most really good people see their actions as only normal and do not need to boast or seek confirmation
• Don't be swayed by the public position. many spotlighted good people (like Mother Teresa types) are reported to have attributes that are not "good"
• Don't be put off by people who are crusty, initially cool to you or brusk. They may have not been successful in their search for good folks for many years or been the victims of the fakes good folks and are now hesitant to open up..
