You don't. If it's a boyfriend or girlfriend, then if they're manipulating you, they don't care about you. Manipulative people are often very self-absorbed or even narcissistic. It's best to not let yourself feet dragged down, and just end the relationship with them. It'll only hurt you and be harder to get over the longer you're around it.

∙ 9y agoThe most important thing is to figure out what they want from you or from the situation. It then becomes much easier to take appropriate action. What can be confusing though is that there are some people whose psychological trait makes them addicted to being a manipulator. They manipulate simply for the thrill and the feeling of "gaining the upper hand" over people. In these cases, what they want is simply a "doormat", somebody to bully. Once you stop being one of these, they will move on to the next victim.
