== == Try joining a sport or a gym and force yourself to participate. It might be easier to stop being lazy if you join a group activity where you have a commitment. You will find it harder to let other people down than it is letting yourself down. I find that the anticipation of doing something you don't want to do is actually much worse than actually doing it.

Encouraging and motivating individuals to set specific goals, create a routine, and establish accountability mechanisms can help combat laziness. Providing positive reinforcement and support to help individuals stay on track can also be effective in promoting productivity and reducing laziness. Additionally, addressing underlying factors such as lack of interest, burnout, or mental health issues can play a crucial role in preventing laziness.

Answer 1:

by chillin' on the couch

Answer 2:

First, kill your shame. In other words, stop letting yourself get embarassed. Practice not blushing, no matter how silly or wrong you are being. Learn to ignore the looks of outrage and embarassment that you'll see in the faces of those who are seeing you.

And that's it. Now you can do nothing, and calmly ignore all those around you who have to pick up the slack that you dropped. You can Trumpet with confidence, "Mom! Are you home from work yet? Well, hurry, I need that sandwich, I've another level before the next save point!! Hey, and we're out of cherry cola!", without leaving the comfort of your bedroom.

(Remember, only Grade B lazy people lay on the sofa waiting for the wifey to bring them a beer. The top of the line, world class Grade A lazy people never left mom's home in the first place, as getting another woman to care for them, who they'd be expected to have sex with now and then, was just too darn much effort.)

To prevent or overcome laziness, a person must:

  • Realize inner rewards are more important than ones people give you. For example, feeling good about an accomplishment is an internal reward.
  • Make 2 lists--- One for tasks you want to do and one for tasks you must do. For every "must", draw a line to one of the things you want to do. Make a deal with yourself that you will do the "must" task before you get what you want. -- BUT, the "want" must be worth the task! The bigger the "wanted item", the more you need to do to get it, even if it means doing several tasks to get just ONE wanted activity/item.
  • Set personal goals. Even housecleaning needs goals.
  • When you need to do a task, break it down into very small steps. Finishing each step makes you feel you've accomplished something faster.
  • Challenge yourself ! For example: Just how fast can I make my bed? How many stairs can I walk today?
  • Use personal rewards that do not create other problems. For example, a reward should not be eating something that adds weight or hurts your health. Instead, a reward might be: "I'm going to vacuum this room, then I can watch my 30-minute sitcom before I go on to something else."
  • Develop interests and hobbies. Even sewing is an activity. Pick at least one small activity to do that will help you finish a task in your hobby.
  • Read about what other people are doing to help in your community. Can you join them to help too?
  • Volunteer to do a chore-- just to be nice. Ex. the movie Pay it Forward.
  • Find people who NEED YOU! Yes, there really is someone who can use YOUR help and who will appreciate what YOU do.
  • If you are living with your parents, how can you make today better for them?
  • Do you like to write? Write a story or poem for someone in your family.
  • Do you like to paint? Paint a picture for someone in your family.
  • Think about what Christmas presents you can MAKE this year, rather than buy. Make something for your mom, dad, and each sibling.
  • If you are in school, keep up with your homework. Do extra work.
  • Challenge yourself to read a set number of books each week. Pick a book from non-fiction, fiction, and "how-to" and check them out of your public library.
  • Find a part-time job.

There are SO many things to do in life! You just need to discover the things that interest you AND which are positive activities... and DO them. If you always have a goal, you'll never have time to be "lazy".
