Not all home schooled kids grow up socially awkward. If the child is able to communicate with different people outside of it's family, then they will grow up alright. Children can't be cooped up inside their homes for their entire lives, and need some sort of outside activity or exposure.
If the child doesn't have emotional stability in the home, chances are that the child him/herself won't be emotionally stable. Then the child will grow up and become emotionally unstable.
