In 2005, there were 4,212 "youth" suicides. Youth applying to those aged 15 to 24, and the suicide rate of that age group was 10.
My source of information appears to only give the rate of successful suicides.
Only one in four suicide attempts is made by males, but one in five successful suicides is by females.
See the link beow for more information.
It was an assisted suicide, after Freud had suffered from many years of oral cancers.
There are many many ways, either know its the thought I'm at right now, its not the answer. Some things are helping me get through. Tokio Hotel is my main reason. If your a Tokio Hotel fan, please listen to them. Please Don't Jump...
Not very many, of all the people who try to commit suicide through cutting, only 1% of them succeed. I would think with just general non-suicidal cutting the numbers would be even lower. Also, most cutters don't cut deep enough to do much damage (though, some do).
Many people wonder if depression increases the risk of suicide and, if so, by how much. Although the majority of people who have depression do not die by suicide, having clinical depression (also known as major depression) does increase the suicide risk compared to people without depression. The risk of death by suicide may, in part, be related to the severity of the depression. New data on suicide and depression suggests that about 2 percent of those people ever treated for depression in an outpatient setting will die by suicide. Among those ever treated for depression in an inpatient hospital setting, the rate of death by suicide is twice as high (4 percent). Those treated for depression as inpatients following suicidal thoughts or suicide attempts are about three times as likely to die by suicide (6 percent) as those who were only treated as outpatients. There are also dramatic gender differences in the lifetime risk of suicide in people with depression. While about 7 percent of men with a lifetime history of the condition will die by suicide, only 1 percent of women with a lifetime history will die by suicide. Another way of thinking about depression and suicide risk is to examine the lives of people who have died by suicide and see what proportion of them were depressed. It is estimated that about 60 percent of people who commit suicide have had a mood disorder (major depression, manic depression, or dysthymia, for example). Often, younger persons who kill themselves have a substance abuse disorder in addition to being depressed.
The Great Depression was an important part of American History. Many people died due to illness, malnutrition, and suicide. It is estimated that about 40,000 people committed suicide during the Great Depression.
as many as 25% go on to develop antisocial personality disorder and the criminal behavior, substance abuse, and high rate of suicide attempts that are symptomatic of it
Many hotlines work to prevent suicide. Many people who fail in their attempts to commit suicide say they are glad they failed.
In a survey of high school students, the National Youth Violence Prevention Resource Center found that almost 1 in 5 teens had thought about suicide, about 1 in 6 teens had made plans for suicide, and more than 1 in 12 teens had attempted suicide in the last year. As many as 8 out of 10 teens who commit suicide try to ask for help in some way before committing suicide, such as by seeing a doctor shortly before the suicide attempt.
Too many!
10,000
6 teenagers in America I believe.
Answer: Because people have different views on the laws and circumstances surrounding suicide.
One confirmed attempt in the early hours of June 5th this year.
Many times starting back in the late 1960s, but somehow never made any attempts.
The leading cause of suicide is hard to determine with any accuracy, as there are many complicating factors. The mental health condition primarily associated with the highest suicide risk is type 1 Bipolar Affective Disorder, when the patient is in the depressive or mixed state phases. It is also regularly seen in Major Depressive Disorder and to a lesser extent Schizophrenia and some personality disorders. Increased risk factors for successful suicide attempts, in addition to the fact that the suicidal patient is mentally ill, are usually some combination of the following factors; the successful suicide is twice as likely to be male as female; the deceased had a history of suicide in their family; the deceased had alcohol and drug problems; the deceased had access to weapons; the deceased was in his or her twenties; the deceased was in a profession with a high risk of suicide; the deceased came from a culture with a tolerant view of suicide. Unsuccessful attempts tend to be made by females, (who are twice as likely to attempt suicide as males) and the attempts tend to occur while the patient is in their teens.
No, that is actually one of the lesser causes of boys committing suicide. Quite often, teens and young adults (male and female) commit suicide because of peer pressure, fear of failure, depression and becoming overwhelmed by problems to which they feel there is no solution. Being the target of bullying has also become a factor in many suicide cases over the last few years in teens and even pre-teens.
Suicide is the leading cause of death in children 14 and under. About 8% of all teens bullied try to commit suicide.
