Unfortunately, the human mind is not as simple as your question implies it is. Infact, it is much more complex. We thus cannot estimate another person's characteristic traits easily. consequently, one should spend time with the "studied" person, in order to observe their behaviour. For instance, if the studied person is asked to go out to a ball game or a restaurant or a cinema, but the person always denies, he/she might be shy. If he/she is always in a tempered mood, for no explanatory reason, it can be inferred that there is something hidden disturbing him/her.
