Advocacy.
Promotion or advocacy could be used as alternatives to convey the concept of encouraging a specific idea to a broad audience without the potentially negative connotations associated with Propaganda.
People believed in propaganda because it was often presented as factual information by authoritative sources, leading them to trust its message. Additionally, propaganda is designed to tap into people's emotions and biases, making it easier for individuals to accept and internalize the ideas being promoted.
Name calling propaganda involves using derogatory terms or labels to create negative associations with a person or group, rather than addressing the actual argument or issue at hand. It aims to evoke emotional responses and discredit the opponent without providing evidence or logical reasoning.
Boogieman propaganda involves the spread of exaggerated or fictitious threats and fears to manipulate individuals or groups into following a certain agenda. It often preys on people's anxieties and insecurities to control their behavior or opinions. This type of propaganda can be used by governments, organizations, or individuals to maintain power or influence.
Stereotyping is a propaganda technique that presents a narrow fixed idea about all the members of a certain group, often based on oversimplified beliefs or misconceptions. This can lead to prejudice and discrimination against individuals based on their group membership.
Fear type of propaganda aims to instill fear in individuals by highlighting potential dangers or threats to encourage certain behaviors or actions. It often relies on exaggeration or manipulation of facts to create a sense of urgency or danger in order to sway opinions or actions towards a desired outcome.

False. Whether or not certain propaganda is negative would depend on the interpretation of the individual who is experiencing it. Again, false. Take the Avatar film for instance, some people 'complain' that it's "environmental propaganda"... wtf? Is it not universally agreed that destroying the environment is a bad thing? Doesn't avatar show just that? Avatar promotes saving the environment, so how is that BAD? The short answer is, it isn't. On the otherhand, take army propaganda: obviously there is much dispute over whether joining the army is a good thing or not. Most would agree that propaganda as such is negative. Again, propaganda can be bad, but also good. It could simply be defined as "a pursuasive message", if you think about it.
The same as it does now, propaganda is (usually distorted) information given to you to make you believe a certain concept, be this true, or in the case of black propaganda; untrue.
