Alcohol intoxication; otherwise known as being drunk will initially give a feeling of confidence and possible euphoria followed by physical impairment to co-ordination and dizziness and blurred vision. Further intoxication will result in vomiting and possible alcoholic coma. Alcohol is a drug that affects the way that the brain works.

Home made spirits can have high levels of methanol, which will cause the above but also causes blindness.

If combined with other drugs the affects can be more pronounced and more likely to result in unconsciousness.

Alcohol often impairs judgment and people who are drunk are more likely to argue and fight and generally hurt themselves. A significant proportion of people arrested by the police or admitted to hospital are intoxicated.
