Why People Are Lazy

Most people who are lazy pick a passive way to handle fear, insecurity or frustration that taunts them.

People with learning disabilities, slow learners, those with diseases or illnesses, and the impatient often suffer from laziness. They exhaust their energies in fear of the consequences.

Early childhood is very important in learning basic skills. Some parents love their children so much that they do not allow them to work on any household chores. Some are allowed to be that way growing up, and they never learned how to be any other way.

Teaching methodologies in schools have to be improved. Teachers will have to be trained to identify children who are slow learners.

The ill and the diseased are mostly not diagnosed early and seem to be lazy since their energy run out.

These causes don't justify a life without accomplishment, nor does realization of the fear compensate for the unwillingness to act. The key to dealing with laziness is to find the causes of fear and act to overcome them. There certainly is a way around for all.

Some may have genuinely tried many times, but would have given up/lost hope since they realize that they are not as good as as their peers or to peer pressure.

Some may setup unrealistic or tough goals and fail to achieve them, hence lose heart and energy.

They may have someone who shoulder their burden of making a living or getting things done for some time, but it can't work for life. The family will need to be actively involved in helping them improve, one step at a time.

How is laziness an enemy to human beings?

Because it slows down our production. It makes people not want to do things, so nothing gets done. If people these days weren't so lazy and used the brain they were given, we could've advanced so much further. Point being, if you're feeling lazy, what do you accomplish? Nothing. Point made.

Is avolition a more complex concept than laziness when it comes to understanding motivation and behavior?

Yes, avolition is a more complex concept than laziness when it comes to understanding motivation and behavior. Avolition refers to a lack of motivation or ability to initiate and persist in goal-directed activities, often seen in mental health conditions like schizophrenia. Laziness, on the other hand, is a more colloquial term that simply implies a lack of desire or effort to do something. Avolition involves deeper psychological factors and can have a significant impact on behavior beyond just being lazy.

Is laziness considered a type of selfishness?

No. Generally the person that is lazy could be depressed or have a medical problem and don't know it. Most people can get into their lazy modes but most of us keep putting one foot in front of the other, while some just loaf around and just don't have that energy. Anyone who appears lazy should have a complete physical because it could be their thyroid, adrenal gland, etc. Yes, depending on the situation. for example: If a couple of your friends want to go to a concert with you but you say no because you're just lazy and don't feel like going, then yeah it's rather selfish. Unless you have some kind of medical problem that you can use as an excuse, but I highly doubt it. I, being a lazy person myself, probably know more then anyone how selfish being lazy is. Not only do you exclude yourself from fun activities but you also leave your friends disappointed and sometimes angry at your laziness.
