There are 3 main weaknesses to the approach, these are that it is reductionist. This basically means that it reduces the complexities of human behaviour to a set of simple explanations like reducing the experience of stress to the action of adrenaline. It focuses on nature rather than nurture it believes that all behaviour is from our genetics and that it isn't caused by surroundings or environment or family or how we feel and think. It's nomothetic, it looks at generalisations about people and finds similarities. It ignores individual differences like when stressed some people produce higher levels of adrenaline than others, which affects the long term effects of stress. It only ever focuses on few individuals and assumes that every ones biological systems behave in the same way
hope this helps :)
It was determined that general paresis was a result of contracting syphilis many years earlier.
One major step forward in promoting the biological approach to psychology was the discovery of neuroplasticity, which highlighted the brain's ability to reorganize itself in response to experience. This finding emphasized the biological basis of behavior and mental processes.
A biological approach to psychology focuses on understanding behavior and mental processes through the lens of genetics, brain structure, and neurochemical processes. It explores how biological factors such as hormones, neurotransmitters, and brain functioning influence thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

what is the purpose, strenghts, weaknesses and provide an example for biological?
The biological approach to psychology looks at the person's genes and heritage for the causes of the people acting the way they do.
yes

1) Perceptual-motor approach 2) Biological approach 3) Mechanistic approach 4) motivational approach
Cesare Lombroso is considered the father of the biological approach within the positivist school of criminology. Lombroso believed that criminal behavior was determined by biological factors and that he could identify criminals by physical characteristics.

no but the biological/medical approach does
Strengths: Cognitive Psychology is probably the most dominant approach today: 1. It investigates many areas of interest in Psychology that had been neglected by behaviourism; yet, unlike psychoanalysis and humanism, it investigates them using a more rigorous scientific method. 2. This approach has tended to use a scientific approach through the use of laboratory experiments, as shown in the Loftus & Palmer study. Weaknesses: Cognitive models have been accused of being: 1. Over simplistic - ignoring the huge complexity of human functioning compared to computer functioning. 2. Unrealistic and over hypothetical - ignoring the biological influences and grounding of mental processes.
