Karen Horney was best known for her contributions to psychoanalysis, particularly her critiques of Sigmund Freud's theory of penis envy and her development of her own theory of neurosis based on interpersonal relationships. She emphasized the role of societal and cultural influences on personality development and the importance of self-realization and personal growth.
The issue between Sigmund Freud and Karen Horney was they have different point of views on the development of humans. Freud would biological process when analyzing women and Horney thought what was not good.

They were all Neo-Freudians meaning they all believed that Freud's original theory's were correct however disagreed with him on certain details. The detail in common with these three theorists was that they all believed that inside a healthy individual was born with the forces of good and evil inside ones mind being at balance. This opposed Freud's theory that stated that from birth the id (IE your desires) controlled you and only after time a super ego (IE your moral standards) is developed by inheriting the moral standards of the people around the child.
