Empathy is the ability to put yourself in someone elses shoes.EX If I see someone with a severe migraine headache I empathise I know how they feel because I used to get severe migrains and know their pain. Empathy is not lack of caring it is lack of understanding.EX we all know of the incident in 9/11 if you did not lose any friends of family member due to the incident you may feel bad for people who have loved ones or friend that died but you may not know exacly just how bad they feel. However if you have lost someon you were close to in 9/11 you know exacly how much it hurts.you can empathise. if you know someone is sad and care that is sympathy empathy is different because you know exacly how they feel because you have had the expirence. people with aspergers have trouble reading others emotions so they may not always know how you are feeling but if they do know they care.If someone knows you are upset and does not care that is not lack of empathy that is lack of sympathy. if an aspergers child teen or adult knows you are upset they will care and sympathise but sometimes they may not know when you are upset due to a inability to raed facial expressions body lauguage and social cues that is an empathy problem. if a person does know you are upset however and simply does not care that is lack of sympathy there is a big difference between lack of sympathy and lack of empathy and I hope this cleared the distincrtions between the two

What can you do to help the psychopath?

Psychopaths are characterized by a lack of empathy. There is no medication that can create empathy. It's better to stay away from them unless you have no empathy yourself and don't care if you end up through a mulcher and a weighted bag on the bottom of the ocean.
