enlightenment
Cognitive psychology is the modern psychological perspective that focuses on how individuals reason, solve problems, and understand language. It explores mental processes such as perception, memory, and thinking in studying human behavior and cognition.
Charles Darwin's theory of evolution challenged Enlightenment assumptions by proposing that human behavior is not solely determined by reason but is influenced by biological factors. Darwin's ideas emphasize the role of natural selection in shaping human behavior, highlighting the importance of instinct and emotions in addition to rationality. This perspective contrasts with the Enlightenment belief in human perfectibility and the supremacy of reason in guiding behavior.
If there are doctors to heal the flesh there must be psychologists to heal the mind. The problem is that it's easy to access a broken leg and mend it, but it's really hard to access someone's mind. In this way, a particular school of psychologist (behaviorist) developed a way of accessing one's mind: by one's behavior. They believe that a certain happening means a certain emotion, behavior and cognition. So, the best way to access one's mind (something subjective) is by accessing one's actions (something objective).

the enlightenment
The Enlightenment
Reason allows us to understand right and wrong. Emotions often get in the way of ethical behavior, but empathy is necessary for ethical behavior.
The belief in logic and reason promoted the beginnings of social sciences by encouraging a systematic approach to studying human behavior and society. This led to the development of methods for collecting and analyzing data, as well as the establishment of disciplines like sociology, psychology, and anthropology, which seek to understand social phenomena through observation, experimentation, and analysis.
The belief in logic and reason during the Enlightenment led to a shift in thinking towards utilizing empirical evidence and systematic observation to study human behavior and society. This emphasis on critical thinking and scientific inquiry laid the foundation for the development of the social sciences such as sociology, psychology, and anthropology. Scholars sought to understand and explain human behavior through a rational and methodical approach, marking a departure from traditional religious or philosophical explanations.
I would begin with a definition of anthropocentrism. My casual definition of anthropocentrism would be a sort of human chauvinism. It is in essence the belief that humans are for some reason better or above other species. An anti-anthropocentric belief system would be one that rejects that belief system and the illogical presumption that humans are for some reason more worthy of anything than another species.
Since they can be so " cute"....humans think that dogs do not understand...they try to reason with them, yet they need to know the human must be the leader!

Cats chatter at humans as a way to express excitement or frustration when they see something they want to catch, like a bird or insect. This behavior is thought to be a natural instinct related to hunting and can also be a sign of anticipation or frustration.
