Disinhibition is a temporary increase in the strength of an extinguished response caused by an unrelatedstimulus.
Example: Someone who has been "cured" of a fear response to thunderstorms may experience the same fear response when something like a dentist tray has been dropped on a floor.
Spontaneous Recovery is a temporary increase in the strength of an extinguished response after a period of time.
Example: A person who has been "cured" of cocaine addiction for many years may randomly experience an overwhelming desire to use again at the sight of flour on a kitchen table.
