you think that when you dream it is real, when you think you are conscious of what you are thinking about e.g. you know you think during an exam. When you dream you are unconscious, asleep, so you aren't aware so more often than not you think everything is real even though it is not. Dreaming is when you are unaware and thinking is when you are.
