During the late 40's and into the 50's the fear of communism was rampant. It was thought as a great RED menace because of the red in flags of Russia and China. The fear of sly and covert infiltration into movies, journalism and writing would seduce the human mind without it knowing it was happening. In "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" the capturing of the humans was without their knowledge or willingness. When people in the captured nations of Russia and China were not followers of communism they remained as quiet and out of sight as did the ones in the movie.
Personality is the person in addition to her body. It includes aspects like intelligence, feelings, character, temperament: Temperament has to do with things like intuition verses reason extrovert or introvert decisive verses indecisive feeling verses intellectual --in various degrees. I believe most of personality is present at birth, hereditarily, but aspects emerge at various stages of growth and maturation and can be influenced to a limiteed extent through environment, experience. I think a lot of employers "push their luck" in what they require of potential employees. I would consider it an invasion of privacy. After all, in many situations employers can't ask ethnicity these daysw! I think the administration of a personality test could be a violation of the employment aspect of the law. By: Samik Mitra.
He was an orator who was persuasive enough to garner popular support - eg getting the Athenians to spend the proceeds of a rich silver strike, which they intended to divide up amongst the populace, on building a strong navy which helped turn back the Persian invasion. He was an astute commander, planning the response of the Greek cities to the Persian invasion and persuading the other cities to follow his plans. As part of this he persuaded the Athenians to abandon their indefensible city, send their families to shelter in other cities, and take to the sea to fight there in the ships he had provided. He persuaded the Athenians to clearly establish their independence - facilitating the rebuilding and extension of the city walls destroyed by the Persians, which gave Athens independence from influence by Sparta. His popular support was based largely on his populist approach - preferring to influence affairs by appealing to the people rather than trying to persuade the aristocracy. When the aristocrats regained control as a result of their leadership during the Persian war, they exiled him - the went to Argos, was implicated in a plot and fled to Asia Minor where Persian king Artaxerxes gave him governorship of a province.
Propaganda is different than persuasion. A propagandist is only interested in achieving his goals. Persuasion involves a dialogue between two parties. If I'm attempting to persuade you, I make my goals clear, state my case, listen to your concerns, adjust my goals as necessary, etc. Ideally, both sides win. That's not the case with propaganda, which is one-sided with the goals of the propagandist concealed. A propagandist attempts to achieve his goals at all costs.
