so many people are incarcerated today because this world is so messed up people just do what they have to do to survive, they do what they do they get in trouble because this country does not like to help anyone. ==Ouch...== How about this as a possibility? Maybe societies incarcerate so many people because when these people were young, their families failed to teach them the basic values necessary to function within a society...values such as respect, hard work, fair play, etc. Consequently, when these individuals grow up, rather than working to become a valuable, contributing member of society, they steal and hurt people instead. Society then has no option but to remove them from the general population and this is accomplished by incarceration. It is truly a sad state of affairs, but unless and until our children are taught how to behave within our society, and taught to accept responsibility for making their own lives better, the situation won't change.
