Milgram's experiment is taught mainly because of ethics, which is covered in several different psych courses. The experiment also demonstrates the power of authority. Milgram's study was originally started to prove that American's were not like Natzi's and would not do horrible things even if an authority commanded it. Milgram was shocked to find out just how powerful authority is with his experiment. It's a great one to learn about and get you interested in psychology.
