Why do people brag and show off?

People usually brag about what they've done or have because they have low self esteem or feel unworthy. They try to impress so others will have a higher opinion of them as people. Sometimes the bragging is harmless and the bragger usually just looks foolish or shallow. In grown-ups it usually is a sign of self deprecation or self loathing, or the person does not have a healthy opinion of himself and his behavior. Some of these people need help.

Not all men are show offs. Most are just way too showy for their own good. It is so because of their lust for attention. They boastfully say the things that they know, have, or have done to appear as if they're cooler than the rest of the entire male population. Usually, these kind of men carry with them pride. They can never comprehend the thoughts of being a second place. They can never live through life knowing that someone is much better than they are. If you know someone who is a show off, just tell them that you're not interested. Show them that the things that they are boasting about doesn't interest you in any way. Hurt their ego so that they may learn from it.
