Most likely their vocabulary has not reached the size it needs to be at to efficiently communicate with someone of their species so they resort to words that make them seem edgy to compensate. They could also be so immature that they think something "bad" is amusing, which they are hoping for other's reactions to match their parents when they were being "bad".
