Because he's a jerk. You can't be blamed for anyone else's anger issues. Even if you're often the person that stems his outbursts, it is HIS fault that he is getting furious, and not yours. Stand up for yourself, or even have a talk with him (try to do this when he is calm). Breaking off the relationship might be the only answer; you shouldn't have to live like this.
