There's no accounting for anybody's sense of humor. Maybe mom actually gets your jokes.
Maybe you're only funny to old people, or maybe you're not funny at all and she's just being polite. Alternatively, possibly your crush is so shy that she (or he) doesn't want to risk drawing attention by laughing. Or maybe your crush thinks you're a jerk and doesn't want to encourage you. You'd probably be better off asking the people who are actually involved, as ridiculous as that sounds.
