Gelfusine is an artificial colloid. Produced by hydrolysis of bovine collagen, the average molecular weight is 30-35kD. 50% of the dose is excreted in 2.5-4hours. Because of this very short half life, Gelfusine is used primarily to treat anaesthesia induced hypotension.
