Indentation= selected area Alignment= first line of a paragraph
A hanging indent indents every line after the first one, whereas indenting a paragraph indents only the first line of the paragraph.
Indents can change the first line of the paragraph or the entire paragraph can be indented.

first line indent you can change if you click on arrow on right bottom side of Paragraph section on Home tab. This will open Paragraph window, on Indents and Spacing tab press arrow below Special: and choose First line, then set indent on By:
To create a paragraph with hanging indents of 0.25", you can use the ruler feature in word processing software like Microsoft Word. First, select the text you want to format, then adjust the indent markers on the ruler to achieve a 0.25" hanging indent. Alternatively, you can go to the Paragraph settings and set a 0.25" indent for the first line and a -0.25" indent for the hanging indent.

The key that lets you automatically indent the first line of each new paragraph is called the "Tab" key. By pressing the Tab key at the beginning of a new paragraph, you can easily indent the first line to create a clear visual separation between paragraphs in your writing.
There are four common types of indentation: Block indentation, where text is indented to separate it from the surrounding content. Hanging indentation, where the first line of a paragraph is not indented, but subsequent lines are. First-line indentation, where only the first line of a paragraph is indented. Left and right indentation, where both the left and right margins of a paragraph are indented.
