Arabians were a different group of Semitic people who lived on the Arabian peninsula. However, Arabs are not a homogeneous ethnic group; some Arabs are former Canaanites, some are former Arabians, and many more have a different ethnic origin.

Arabian nomads from Arabia conquered the Levant region and brought it under their rule. During that period, those Levantines (like Canaanites, Philistines, Jews, Samaritans, Arameans, Coptic Egyptians, Byzantine Greeks) who converted to Islam began to take on the same mannerisms as the foreign Arabs who had conquered them.
