I think most Muslims are accepting of other religions.
although the government has no specific laws against or for a certain religion many followers of Jesus Christ are persecuted by Muslims. Because Istanbul predominant religion is Islam, and because Muslims are hostile toward Christians many loose their jobs and are thrown into prison for their profession of faith.

No. There is no such thing called 'church' in Islam. If you were referring to the worshipping place of Muslims, it is typically called a "Mosque" in English. In Arabic, there are two names for such a structure: Jame'a (جامع) also Latinized in Turkish as Camii refers to a large Mosque and Masjid (مسجد) also Latinized in Turkish as Mescid which refers to a smaller community building. Muslims in the mosque; during praying; face the direction of Kaaba in Makkah (or Mecca) in Saudi Arabia.

There have been almost no changes in US policy toward US Arabs (mostly Christians descended from Lebanese immigrants) nor Muslim residents. US law forbids religious discrimination by Muslims or nonMuslims in the USA.
