The Deacon is usually the right hand of the pastor. In the absence of the pastor the chairman of the Deacon Board or ministry is in charge. If the church is for any reason without a pastor the deacon(s) are in charge. That is spiritually, financially, and will give counsel when necessary. In many traditional baptist churches the deacons pretty much run everything, this often includes the Pastor, as he answers to the Deacons. The deacons in the baptist church are the only other ordained ministry other than the pastor. Therefore the relation of the Deacons and Pastor are usually very close.
In a Baptist church, the main duty of leadership falls to the pastor/preacher, who is expected to lead his church according to the Bible. He is free to appoint deacons (or have them elected, etc.) and other leadership roles as he sees fit. Some pastors prefer alot of help; some prefer very little. Any and all authority that the deacons have is determined by the pastor.
The ordained ministries in the Catholic Church are deacons, priests and bishops. There are also other extraordinary ministers but they are not ordained. Am example would be a Eucharistic minister.
They do not differ much. They are very similar to Lutherans, which is extremely similar to Catholicism. Episcopal churches have Deacons and bishops as well as the Pastor, of course. Most episcopal churches are both Catholic and Protestant.
In a Baptist church, the leadership structure typically consists of the pastor, who serves as the primary spiritual leader and preacher. Beneath the pastor, there may be deacons, who assist in various ministries and support the pastor. Other leaders can include church trustees and committees that manage specific areas such as finance, education, and outreach. Ultimately, decision-making often involves congregational input, reflecting the Baptist principle of congregational governance.
Pastor is the Latin word for "shepherd" (or "goatherd", or any other kind of herdsman).
Yes, deacons in the Catholic Church do take vows, but these are typically not the same as the vows taken by priests. During their ordination, deacons make a promise of obedience to their bishop and a commitment to live a life of service, which can include a vow of celibacy if they are not married. In some other Christian denominations, deacons may also have specific commitments, but the nature of these vows can vary widely.
Deacons in the Catholic Church do not have the sacramental authority to hear confessions and grant absolution. Only priests and bishops have the power to administer the sacrament of reconciliation. Deacons can assist in the sacramental life of the Church, but their role does not include this specific function. They may, however, offer guidance and support in other pastoral capacities.
There are no duties of a deaconess in the apostolic church, because there were never any women appointed . Stephen was a man, and in the Bible it reads the deacon must be the husband of one wife. So show me how a woman can become something the Bible does not teach? Read Romans 16:1-2

This very much depends on your church. The word deacon is derived from the greek word that means servant (as in a waiter at a restaurant). This indicates that deacons are to serve the church. Churches get this idea from the argument in the church recorded in Acts 6. In this story, the apostles appointed deacons to serve the church so the apostles could concern themselves with other matters. This should give an idea of what deacons do. They take care of things in the church so that the other leaders can focus on spreading the word.
