Jews make up no more than 2 percent of the US population, so in a numerical sense, they are certainly a minority, and a small enough minority that many decisions are made without any consideration of the impact of those decisions on Jews.
Some people conflate the concepts of minority status with underprivileged or oppressed minorities.
For most of the past 1000 years, Jews were undoubtedly oppressed. An estimated 1/4 of the European Jewish population was murdered during the Crusades, Jews were expelled from country after couontry during this period, and many Jewish towns suffered routine bouts of murder in the years since. The Holocaust is only the most recent example, more industrialized than prior examples, but fully in their spirit. Scattered people in the US, carrying knives and guns, demonstrate by their actions that they are intent on perpetuating this tradition.
Note that a different 2 percent of the US population makes over $190,000 a year. Rich people are a privileged minority. On the average, Jewish household income is above the national average, so on the average, Jews are an economically comfortable minority, but the 30 percent of Jews with household incomes below $50,000 a year are as economically stressed as anyone else in that income bracket.
white
Some people refer to the current US President, Barack Obama as a minority President because he is of his Afro American heritage. Even though his mother is considered a "white" person, it does not matter. This is because never has a US President had a dual heritage, thus "minority" is still a logical term to use.
dem Jews are still burning
Yes, they are not the majority of the US population, so they therefor have to be a minority. Yes, they are; however, considering Asians are around 58% of the worlds population they shouldn't be by any means.
No, whites are not considered a minority in the United States. The term "minority" in the U.S. typically refers to groups that are underrepresented or have less power due to factors like race, ethnicity, or gender. Whites make up the majority of the U.S. population.
Hispanics are the fastest growing minority group in the US.
The highest population of Jews Per Capita is in Israel, but still the country with the most Jewish people is the US.
They do, but it is often called "holiday season" ("holiday" for short) to avoid offending people who do not celebrate Christmas (a small minority of the US population, maybe 2%). America is very politically correct, and Jews are a vocal minority and are known for not celebrating Christmas.
The largest minority group in the US is Latino, and the second largest minority group is African.
No, we're still here, around 14 million of us worldwide.
The largest minority group in the US in 2004 was Hispanic/Latino Americans.
