AnswerJohn's Gospel mentions a pool near the sheep market, just outside the city of Jerusalem, where people came for cures for all sorts of ailments, and where Jesus is said to have cured a lame man. Archaeologists have identified the pool as part of an Asclepium, or Temple to the Greek god, Asclepius. The Gospel says that people were cured when an angel disturbed the water of the pool, but it was actually Asclepius who used to disturb the water.
