This will depend on what you refer to as "evil".

Answer 1 (evil defined as harming others): Wicca is a belief system, a religion. It's most basic tenent, "Harm none, do what you Will", is similar the Christian Golden rule, "do unto others as you would have done to you".

Answer 2 (evil defined as following Satan): Satan, the devil, Lucifer; whatever you call him is a Christian belief and has nothing to do with Wicca or its beliefs. Some satanists do use magic for power, but they are Satanists not Wiccans. A real Wiccan uses their power for protection, healing, good fortune, divination, etc. None of those are evil.

Answer 3 (evil defined as religious intolerance): Wicca is not evil at all. Basically the biggest belief is that you can do what you want as long as you don't hurt anyone or anything. (It is worded differently but that is today's translation.) Second of all, WE DON'T BELIEVE IN SATAN SO WE CAN'T WORSHIP HIM! Christians teach that all witchcraft in any way is bad and evil and that includes Wicca. Just to let you know, some Wiccans don't even practice magick. That is DEFINITELY NOT to say that it is bad though. It is just another part of what we do. It is like a form of prayer. Just because we are different doesn't mean we are bad! Some Christians also argue that they suffered more than Wiccans did. I am not about to say that the whole crucification thing was not absolutely terrible in EVERY way. I don't care what you did. You should not be put to death in that way, and if it was just because of your religion then it is even worse!!! I agree completely that it was stupid what happened to Christians, but any "Wiccan" that would do something like that is not a true Wiccan because they won't follow the first rule. "Do as you wish, but harm none." Plus, it wasn't only Wiccans that did that. Also, notice that Christians, as well as others. burned anyone even thought to be a witch at the stake. That also was as stupid as stupid can be. We are also (at least most of us) are very accepting of other religions.

I also want you to know, that I realize that like any religion in the world, Wicca has a few problems. There are always the extremists that think that everyone different than themselves are stupid. Those people should not represent their religion until they change. It also has some problems with the actual religion. I can't think of anything off of the top of my head, but there definitely are a few things, just like every religion everywhere.

I personally am a Wiccan and I do not worship or even believe in Satan, I try and urge other people to try to be kind and gentle towards any other living creature, and I do spells, meditate and talk to our goddess and occasionally our god, but I also do things that any other girl my age would do, talking on the phone, playing on the computer, talking about boys, having sleepovers, occasionally getting sucked into gossip, flirting, trying to get a date, making small unimportant problems into a dramatic event that I have to go cry on my friends shoulders and get hugs about, going to school, listening to music, and MUCH more. I'm a normal person with a religion that is a bit different. I can't share that with almost anyone that I know for fear of losing friends, having friends being forbidden to hang out with me, or of being shunned. I still celebrate things like Christmas with my family. I am very accepting of others, and I am not very different from most other Wiccans. Please just don't be prejudiced against Wiccans because of things you hear from extreme Wiccans that sound like psychos, or from extreme Christians or other prejudiced people. Please don't be prejudiced against other religions either though.

i find mixing herbs a hobby. It creates peace and harmony. I do it on new moons. I have a silver dress to where and a locket with rosemary in it! were just like people but we love harmony, and the essence of herbs. there is no evil in us.

wiccans and the study of wicca are not evil. they are missunderstood for witchcraft which is is diffrent from wicca practes. wiccans have nothing to do with the devil or devil worshippers.

Wicca is thought to be evil because in the mid-evil period, when Christianity was beginning to become more popular and people were converting (or being forced to converted) christians would accuse the Wiccans of being "Devil worshipers". Wiccans do NOT believe in the devil. Nor do wiccans use black magic, do sacrifices, or hold black masses. So the point is the only reason people accuse Wicca of being evil is to gain control and power over others.

Wicca is a neo-pagan religion focused on the self, and the nature. A Wiccan abide by the law of "An it harms none, do what thou will!". This is the basic percept of Wicca.

Wicca does not acknowledge any supreme powers either total Evil or total Good. Both the forces of Good and Evil are in everything around us.

The nature follows the law of constant development and constant degradation. This circle of change brings forth new things out of existing things, and takes away the old things recycling material for the new things. Human beings can view the process of degradation as an All Evil Force; some people call it Devil.

A Tornado, Tsunami or an Earthquake has destructive powers of nature that takes away the old, to make space for the new. Wiccans wouldn't take it as a force of Evil, it is a part of the nature, to balance the world.

A new life is born with the union of the life forces of a male and a female; this is the ultimate magic of the constructive forces of the nature. Plants grow on the earth and brings up the earth's life forces and energizes with the powers of the sun light, and gives breathable air and nutritious food to the animal kingdom.

A Lightning Thunder is a release of a massive amount of natures forces. Hindus and Buddhists believe that it is the weapon of the God Indra, and the Greco-Roman belief is the weapon of Zeus the king of Gods. A Lightning thunder can destroy a Giant Tree or a Mammoth turning it to ashes in no time. But the modern science has fount that Lightening fixes Nitrogen so that plants can grow, or else turning the earth to a desert. We can't say a Lightening thunder is a force of either Pure Good or Absolute Evil, it is a part of the nature, we have to accept it as it is.

In the Wiccan belief, there is no single force behind all this, because it is too complex for a single consciousness to handle. These forces of the nature are all governed by themselves. The collective Life Force of this Earth fuelled by our Sun is a Gem in a dessert of this Universe.

However, there are people who dresses up weird and wear a pentacle and claim to be "Wiccan" for the shock value of it. But the real Wiccans who understands what I have mentioned above wouldn't even show a sign of being Wiccan to the outside world. If you read the above paragraphs, you will now know what the Wiccans think about good or evil. And in that context, Wiccan's say we are not evil. You can compare it and see for yourself now!

A Christian perspective:

I am a Christian and in my opinion, Yes Wiccans are evil. I think that because it clearly states in The Bible that witch craft is of the devil and not of GOD. I also believe that we should not get into witch craft because that makes it easier for Satan ( the horned god} to consume your mind with evil things. I believe that if you do not put your trust and faith in Jesus GODS ONLY SON that you will go to hell because God can not look upon sin. But if you get saved and you repent of your sins GOD will not see your sin but Jesus's blood. The bible tells us that if you put your faith in GOD that you will be wash as white as snow. I am a proud christian and I am strong in what I believe in and I believe in the bible and of the Mighty graceful GOD! For GOD so LOVED the world that he gave his only begotton son that so for whoever believeth in him shall not perish but have EVERLASTING life. John 3:16

A non-religious perspective:

The concept of evil is inherently subjective. In order to decide that any person, thing or concept is evil, you must first compare it to a standard. The christian above's standard is his holy book, and as such takes the view that wiccans are evil, regardless of how they actually behave. The wiccan, on the other hand, holds a different standard and probably sees his actions as the very opposite of evil.

Personally, I find the concept of evil quite useless. Humans are far too complicated to be described as good or evil.

And wiccans just seem to me to be no different from any other humans. In fact, the core principle described in the first answers seems quite admirable to me. (As opposed to the concept of eternal punishment, which I would not wish on even the worst human conceivable.)
