Most religious edifices are open to visits from other faiths. Buddhists are no different. Several rules of good manners should be observed:

  • Ask permission to enter
  • Ask if a guide is needed
  • If photographing ask permission first
  • Don't disturb practitioners
  • Don't interrupt services
  • Be respectful and quiet
  • Dress appropriately
  • Don't proselytize for your belief
  • Observe customs - shoes off, hats on/off etc.
  • Donate a bit to the alms (or equivalent) box
