There is no specific mention in the Bible of Jesus having long hair. However, some artistic depictions show him with long hair as a symbol of his humility and devotion to God.
It is commonly depicted in art and tradition that Jesus had long hair and a beard during his ministry. However, the Bible does not specify his physical appearance, so it is uncertain how he actually looked.
No one really knows but he is described with long hair and a beard.
There is no mention in the bible if whether Jesus' hair was long or short. We assume that his hair was long due to where we read about other men in the bible, during that time period, who had long hair. However, John in Revelation 1:14 saw Jesus as, "His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow;...". Jesus DID have His say about long hair on men when He inspired I Cor 11:14, "nature itself teaches you that if a man has long hair it is a shame to him". We know that our Lord Jesus Christ had NO shame. What He had was white as wool and snow - mine is white but with some darker in it. That's as close as I can get to being just like Jesus! He was NOT a Nazarite which had vows including long hair and not touching dead bodies which He did to raise them from the dead. Jesus was raised in Nazareth making Him a Nazarene without that Old Testament vow. Jesus had to be identified by Judas and was paid to do it! He looked like any other ordinary disciple and man of that time. Did you ever notice that in drawings the disciples and other men have relatively short hair and Jesus has long?
When Jesus was on earth, it was a different time period and a different culture. They didn't have barber shops back then.
In the bible it does not state how long Sampson's hair is, but it does say that he had seven long locks that his hair was kept in. By tradition Sampson was a Nazarite and was required to keep his hair long for religious purposes.
The Catholic Church does not 'defend' the long hair of Jesus. There is really no evidence that Jesus had long hair and most icons that picture Jesus with long hair are based on the Shroud of Turin or Mandylion which is now thought to have been the same cloth as the Shroud but folded so only the face is shown. Both show an image of a man with long hair. If Jesus followed the style of the time, his hair was probably short. If Jesus were a Nazarite, he would have had long hair but all evidence seems to show he did not follow Nazarite traditions that dictated long hair and no drinking of wine nor touching of dead bodies. Since the authenticity of the Shroud is still in doubt, the long hair of Jesus is also in doubt. However, even if the Shroud of Turin turns out to be a fake, it would still not necessarily mean Jesus had short or long hair. As we see in the Gospels, Jesus was not always a strict observer of Jewish traditions and was constantly at odds with the scribes and pharisees over rules of conduct that they were enforcing on the people as being Divine in nature when they were of human origin. Jesus was not a conventional Jew and challenged the authorities all the time. We can not rule out long hair completely.
Jesus was a Jewish man. Jews range from light-skinned to dark olive-complexion like many Mediterranean peoples have. The standard for hair at the time was the Roman thus indicating that Jesus might have had short hair. I do agree that most men probably didn't cut their hair as often as we do today. No one really knows if Jesus had short or long hair. The Bible does hint at the hair length when it says that it is a shame for a man to have long hair. 1 Cor. 11:14 This is why I think he, Jesus, had short hair.
Jesus had long hair so did samson. god gave us hair to grow so what do you think?
No I do not belive so. I know some very reliogous people who have long hair. Plus, Jesus had pretty long hair for a man.
