That is a matter of belief. If you believe in God then, yes, unless it is specifically stated otherwise in holy text somewhere. When you think of the relationship between man and dog, one has to reflect on the fact that no other creature has such a relationship with man, insomuch as the dog is absolutely inferior to man. Yet in this obvious truth, man has such unconditional love, compassion and mercy towards this inferior creature that it has total sovereignty over. Also, the dog is completely dependent upon man to provide all of it's emotional security and identity of worth and without it the dog is lost. I believe God gave mankind the dog and the relation we have with it so we could understand how something so inferior could be loved so much by something so Great and that without the love of our FATHER, we have no identity or worth.
