Lennon's beliefs changed over time; in early interviews, when asked about his religion, he would say "I am an atheist". However, he was interested in religions and read very widely on the subject. He did believe in "fate" - in 1968 he said he felt he was fated to be a Beatle. Later - and influenced by LSD use - he believed (briefly) that he was a second coming of Jesus. A fairly recently discovered document shows he had some belief in God.

Yes he did.
