The biblical story of Joseph says that he had eleven brothers. However, Michaela Davey (Mastering Theology) describes the story of Joseph as a novella - a short fictional story. If the biblical account is really a novella, then we can not say that Joseph really existed, nor how many brothers he had.

Yes Joseph had many brothers, and he was the youngest and Ruben was the eldest. It was Ruben who said not to kill Joseph.
